Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease, also called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). It is a dysfunction of the hormones, common among women of reproductive age. Women suffering from PCOD, might have abnormal menstrual periods and excessive androgen (male hormone) levels. Their ovaries may also develop many small quantities of liquid called follicles. It used to be called Stein-Leventhal Syndrome. Signs include irregular periods, acne, obesity, excessive body hair and infertility.
